Weekly Review: January 2-6, 2011

The Tel-Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE) opened 2011 on a positive note with price gains in all leading indices.

The TA-25 index gained some 0.7%, after posting returns of 15.8% in 2010. On January 6th the index reached a new record of 1335.99 point.

The TA-100 index rose 1.2% over the week, following a 14.9% increase in 2010.  On January 6th, the TA-100 index also reached a new record level at the value of 1238.87 points.

The Tel Tech-15 and the Real Estate-15 ended the week up by around 4%, while the TA-Finance index gained 0.5%.

The US dollar exchange rate on 6 January was 3.558 NIS, gaining 0.3% over the week. In 2010 the NIS appreciated against the US dollar by some 6%. 

The Euro exchange rate on 6 January came to 4.6624 NIS, ending the week 1.6% lower. In 2010 the NIS appreciated 12.9% against the Euro.
