Weekly Review: 29 April - 3 May 2012 Share prices changed slightly in both directions, in last week's trading on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE).

• The TA-25 index gained 0.4% over the week, bringing its year-to-date return to 7.6%.

• The TA-100 index was up 0.2% over the week, bringing its year-to-date return to 9.1%.

• The TA Real Estate-15 & TA Blue tech-50 indices were off 1.2% & 0.2% respectively, while the TA Banks index gained 0.8%.
Year-to-date, the TA BlueTech-50 increased 24% while the TA Banks & TA Real Estate-15 indices gained 10% and 9%,respectively.

• U.S. Biomed Company, PhotoMedex, which is traded on NASDAQ, dual listed its shares on TASE as of 3 May 2012. Currently some 52 companies are dual listed on TASE and foreign exchanges.

• The Mizrahi-Tefahot Bank, a constituent of the TA-25 index, raised US $281 million debt capital in a public offering. The banking sector leads the list of bond issuers, having raised US $1.6 billion – some 53% of bond offerings during the first trimester of 2012.

• The Government of Israel floated US $445 million bonds on the local market, bringing the year-to-date total of government bond issues to US $7.0 billion.

• The Bank of Israel announced that it is leaving April 2012 interest rates unchanged at 2.5% for the fourth consecutive month.

• In addition, the central bank announced that the Composite State-of-the-Economy rose 0.2% in March - similar to the increase posted during the first quarter of 2012 and lower than the increase in the second half of 2011.

• Israel's Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) released figures, indicating that unemployment increased to 6.9% in March, as opposed to 6.5% in the previous month. Unemployment during the first quarter of 2012 came to 6.7%, slightly lower than that of the previous quarter. 

• The NIS/US dollar exchange rate on 3 May came to 3.778 a weekly increase of 0.6% against the shekel. Since the beginning of the year, the dollar has depreciated 1.1% against the NIS.
The NIS/Euro exchange rate on 3 May came to 4.9613- unchanged during the week. Since the beginning of the year, the Euro has appreciated 0.5% against the NIS.
